It hurt...
Taking to heart the other reviewer's advice, I ordered the Dozer III half a size larger. She was right: the sandal fit very well -- space for my toes, no part of my foot apparently rubbing or slipping -- and I thought I'd found the perfect hiking sandal. How wrong I was.

Unfortunately, the only way to wear in walking shoes is to... walk. And that's when the disaster happened. The back strap of the sandals bit into my heels (three places in the left, one in the right), causing painful blisters in just a couple of hours of light walking. The one in my right heel was especially nasty. They were so bad all I could wear afterwards were flip-flops and clogs.

There seems to be a particularly critical place, where the strap meets a vertical reinforcement that ends in the sole. Also, this vertical piece isn't well padded at all (although the back of the strap itself is), so rubbing is almost inevitable.

Keen Venice Sandals Rock with one exception
The product is rugged and sturdy. Love the brown leather and aqua accents and comfortable doesn't begin to describe how good these feel. They're good in water and stay on better than my old tevas. Great for hiking and cooler than hiking shoes. The problem is with pebbles. I bought these specifically for the pebbly beaches and hiking in Greece but have decided not to bring them because of that issue. The pebbles get in but you have to take the shoe off to get them out. Really can tell a difference, much better than flip flops!
I've been wearing these shoes for the last couple of weeks and have been really pleasantly surprised. I would describe myself as having terrible feet. Even wearing tennis shoes, after a while, my feet hurt terribly, especially my arches. It's very frustrating to not be able to stand on my feet without a lot of pain, especially walking around campus a lot. I've found that these shoes don't hurt during the day, and when I put tennis shoes on later to work out, my feet hurt less than they did. I think my feet are healing after years of flip flop wearing because of these!
Pros: adjustable ankle and foot band, making it really customizable; great arch support; looks similar to chacos without the high cost; highly versitle
Cons: they aren't the most flattering shoe ever, and lack a feminine qualitiy I would like; sometimes the ankle strap rubs the back of the ankle (but I've gotten used to it)
