It hurt...
Taking to heart the other reviewer's advice, I ordered the Dozer III half a size larger. She was right: the sandal fit very well -- space for my toes, no part of my foot apparently rubbing or slipping -- and I thought I'd found the perfect hiking sandal. How wrong I was.

Unfortunately, the only way to wear in walking shoes is to... walk. And that's when the disaster happened. The back strap of the sandals bit into my heels (three places in the left, one in the right), causing painful blisters in just a couple of hours of light walking. The one in my right heel was especially nasty. They were so bad all I could wear afterwards were flip-flops and clogs.

There seems to be a particularly critical place, where the strap meets a vertical reinforcement that ends in the sole. Also, this vertical piece isn't well padded at all (although the back of the strap itself is), so rubbing is almost inevitable.

The product is rugged and sturdy. Love the brown leather and aqua accents and comfortable doesn't begin to describe how good these feel. They're good in water and stay on better than my old tevas. Great for hiking and cooler than hiking shoes. The problem is with pebbles. I bought these specifically for the pebbly beaches and hiking in Greece but have decided not to bring them because of that issue. The pebbles get in but you have to take the shoe off to get them out. Really can tell a difference, much better than flip flops!
I've been wearing these shoes for the last couple of weeks and have been really pleasantly surprised. I would describe myself as having terrible feet. Even wearing tennis shoes, after a while, my feet hurt terribly, especially my arches. It's very frustrating to not be able to stand on my feet without a lot of pain, especially walking around campus a lot. I've found that these shoes don't hurt during the day, and when I put tennis shoes on later to work out, my feet hurt less than they did. I think my feet are healing after years of flip flop wearing because of these!
Pros: adjustable ankle and foot band, making it really customizable; great arch support; looks similar to chacos without the high cost; highly versitle
Cons: they aren't the most flattering shoe ever, and lack a feminine qualitiy I would like; sometimes the ankle strap rubs the back of the ankle (but I've gotten used to it)

So WHAT IS the deal with some of you reviewers here at Amazon? I mean seriously, why do you leave a review on a product that only talks about it was too big and you had to return it? So I bought these sandals (no thanks to the 1st two reviews) and like the 1st pair of Berks I bought 4 years ago I absolutely love them. Very soft, already starting to "mold" to the shape of my foot, etc. I actually bought two pairs at the same time. This one w/ strap for when I'm doing alot of city walking or know there will be alot of stairs (like at a ballgame) and the other to replace my first pair that had simply worn out. The sling thong Sandal from flitflop is the best thing that ever happened to my feet! I have worn fitflops regular thongs daily for the last few years (the benefits of retirement and living in southern AZ!), but the sling style is a bit more interesting and seems to stay more secure on the foot. When I first looked at these, I had noticed that someone had written that she had to cut the "strap". I wasn't sure what she was talking about until I got a pair. She meant the elastic band running under the front closure. It is too tight and I found that after wearing them for a day, they REALLY cut into the side of that bone of your big toe. SO.. Love these lightweight sandals!
These sandals are lightweight and super comfortable-- just what I was looking for! I've tried Chacos many times, but have found that the footbed was always way too heavy and the arch too high for my foot. These Tevas are the perfect alternative. The straps are very easy to adjust as well. I typically wear between an 8.5 and a 9 and based on other reviews, I sized down and bought an 8, which fit perfectly.

I've read that other users have had an issue with the top strap & buckle coming loose. A quick note on that: it happened to me initially, but then I realized why it was happening. The buckle itself has a little locking mechanism on it that engages when you tighten the strap and then pull it in a downward direction. If you just pull the strap to the right or left to tighten it w/out pulling it down after, the lock (bar in the center of the buckle) will not engage. I really wanted to love these shoes...I really did! They are really cute and well made with soft leather. The footbed was my only issues and it would have been a great footbed had it not been for the breathable holes and the stitching on the footbed itself. I would actually use the word "bite" to describe how that felt on my feet...like I had little needle size marks on my feet where the holes were on the shoes and I only wore them for about 15 minutes around the house so I can imagine that it would have been a lot worse at the end of a long day standing on my feet. Chaco Z/2 Yampa Sandal - Women's Checker, 8.0 Review

Very comfy footbed
I was very impressed with the comfort of the footbed of the Chaco Z/2. The arch support is fantastic, although I felt like my heel wasn't sitting far enough back into the heel-cup - possibly a strap adjustment would correct this. Having said that, I will also say that the straps can be quite a challenge. The strap across the foot is one continuous strap so to adjust one you must adjust the whole thing. I found that as I walked the toe strap would tighten down to an uncomfortable level. I would have to remove the shoe and adjust the straps again. The straps that attatch to the heel did rub on my foot some to the point of discomfort. This may decrease in time as the shoe gets broken-in. I emailed customer service for the seller and they were prompt and helpful with their response. I did return the shoe because of the toe-strap issue. Customer service, again, was very helpful and sent me a UPS label to print making the return very easy. I ordered the Z/1 and hope they work out.......READ MORE REVIEW

As good as it gets for hard to fit feet
For the last few summers, I've been wearing Dansko adjustable sandals (a style called Sissy) and I was just about ready to replace them when I saw these. The others were nice and fit great, but these are even better-looking and the fit is even better. The orange color I bought is beautiful and bright without being neon. The leather is very soft and fine (be careful not to scratch it with your fingernails while adjusting the buckles! I wore surgical gloves). The brushed gold metal is a lovely touch of refinement. And the fit is ingenious. I have problem feet: one foot is a half size larger than the other; my feet are completely flat so I have no instep; my heels are narrow; and I have bunions. With these sandals, none of that matters because they are completely adjustable. The best part for me is that there is no heel strap, yet my feet stay put. When there is a heel strap, I generally need extra holes as time goes by so the straps keep fitting, but with these sandals, I won't.......READ MORE REVIEW

Best Flip Flop
I have pain in the ball of my feet, back and knees if I don't wear flip flops or shoes with proper arch support. I've spent over $400 on orthotics for flip flops but that didn't work for me. Then I discovered Olu Kai flip flops, tried the Ohana, Amo and Kulapa Kai. Of these 3 the Kulapa Kai is the best for me. The straps on the Ohana are thick and tight although my feet aren't fat. The Amo sizing is bigger and don't fit properly, the top sole is made of suede or leather and not as soft and comfy as the Kulapa Kai. After wearing the Amo for 1 night my feet started to hurt. This is my first pair of Birkenstocks. I have worm comfortable, supportive shoes for years (Dansko, Sanita) but developed plantar fasciitis after walking around in flimsy flip flops this summer. I have tried supportive flip-flops to wear (Okabashis, Moszkitos), but still had foot pain at the end of the day. I was a hold out to Birks since I thought they were way too granola for me. After a particularly painful day, I went to buy a pair of Birks at the Walking Company. The salesman was very helpful and we tried several pairs. I knew I wanted something less "crunchy" than the Arizona or Florida styles so we started with the Gizeh style. I have a high arch, low volume foot and we could not get a good fit with the single buckle attached to the main strap. The Mayari was my next choice. I normally wear a size 39 in Sanita and need a 39 N in Dansko, but we sized down to 38 in the Birks. Silver strip on back of sandal is easily scratched
I have these shoes in three colors, and have worn them daily during the last two summers. They are pretty with sundresses and casual with shorts and jeans. Love them. There is just one issue that I haven't been able to resolve yet....the silver or gold strip on the back of the shoes is easily scratched, and underneath is black (on all of the shoes, no matter the color of the leather).....so the scratches are very obvious. I've considered using a silver Sharpie on them, or taking them to a cobbler to see if they can come up with a solution, meanwhile I wear them anyway. This particular pair arrived with a few scratches on the silver, new in the box! So, it is obviously a manufacturing issue that ONEX needs to resolve. ONEX, please find a better metallic product for your shoe heel strips! When I took them out of the bag and initially put them on, the back strap would slip off my heel as I walked- but OH!! The strap has to be SLID OFF FROM UNDER THE SHOE and then they will fit properly! This is how they are packed (with the strap wrapped under the shoe) I noticed in some of the other reviews that a few people had problems with slippage, but this is the reason.
